Obesity
August 27, 2019

Obesity is not just about balancing your calorie count. If it was that easy, we wouldn’t have the prevalence of obesity that we have today. India is the third most obese country in the world and it has been estimated that one-fifth of adults worldwide will be obese by 2025. Obesity is certainly more complicated than you thought. It is not a cosmetic problem like what people perceive it to be, but a medical issue, which if not treated, can increase your risk of suffering from several health problems like diabetes, heart disease and osteoarthritis.

Is being overweight and obesity same?

Both the terms ‘overweight’ and ‘obese’ obviously refer to a condition of being over the weight considered healthy for a given height and age. However, it is your body mass index (BMI) that decides if you are merely overweight or obese.

Use this simple method to calculate your BMI.

  • Divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your height in metres (m)
  • Divide the answer by your height again to get your BMI.
  • BMI of 25-29.9 is considered to be overweight, while a BMI greater than 30 is considered to be obese.

Obesity obviously poses greater threat to your health. It leads to multiple symptoms that manifest gradually over a period of time. As the disease advances, these become more prominent. The symptoms are:

  • Running out of breath - even with minor exertion sometimes
  • Feeling tired and lethargic for most part of the day
  • Difficulty in sleeping and snoring
  • Excessive perspiration
  • Knees & back pain
  • Rashes in the folds of skin such as in the groins, between thighs, axillae, and below the breasts
  • Low self-esteem
  • Daytime sleepiness
  • Many other diseases are associated with obesity and patient may show the symptoms of these diseases like - heart disease, hypertension, stroke, cancer, gallbladder disease, type 2 diabetes, etc.

Treating obesity

Obesity is complicated, and so is treating it.

Twenty-year-old Nisha weighed 104kg. She had tried everything right from joining a gym to following a strict diet, but nothing really worked. She finally thought of seeking medical help but dint wanted to go under the surgeon’s knife. She went for natural and safe homeopathic treatment. While taking her case history, her homeopath realized that her periods were irregular and appeared once in four months in isolated, scattered patterns. She was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS].

Insulin resistance, associated with PCOS is associated with many health risks including obesity. Following diagnosis and detailed case history, Nisha was prescribed a homeopathic remedy Lachesis 200C primarily because of her personality portrait — frenzied lifestyle, abrupt mood swings, inability to stop speaking and left-sided headache. Following ten months of homeopathic treatment, Nisha’s reports showed significant improvement. Her ovaries and uterus were normal in size; there was no evidence of ovary cyst.

Soon, she was able to lose her excess weight after following a diet and exercise plan suggested by her doctor. Today, she weighs 80 kilos and is determined to lose some more weight and live healthy life. The causes of obesity can be many. To treat it from the root, one has to go to the root cause of it. That is what homeopathy does.

Homeopathy is a holistic and the natural & safe way to treat obesity. An extract of sea kelp, which has been used for over 100 years in homeopathy is now been scientifically proved to speed up the metabolic rate and burn up calories faster. This has been widely researched and accepted by the UK Medicines Control Agency (MCA) as a suitable active ingredient for oral administration medicines.

Dr Batra’sTM has been treating this condition for over 35 years now and have given good results in many cases. Successful programs for weight reduction and maintenance at Dr Batra’sTM include homeopathic treatment along with an exercise schedule and a diet plan specially prepared by qualified and experienced nutritionists.
