Leucorrhoea
December 16, 2019

Are you wondering what is leucorrhoea? Well, you should know that it is a medical condition where the woman experiences thick whitish or yellowish discharge from the vagina and is an extremely common disease. It’s mostly experienced by women when they reach the age of puberty and their sexual organs begin to develop. This discharge, if at a normal rate with thick and whitish in colour, is healthy as it releases all the dead skin cells. However, if the colour of this discharge ranges from brown, red, yellow, green or even wheat, it isn’t considered healthy. If the discharge is profuse and non-stop and has any colour other than white, it may need immediate attention.

White discharge during pregnancy is an extensively normal change to happen where pregnant women may experience mildly smelling thin and white discharge. However, it shouldn’t encourage you to start using tampons or even assume it as a vaginal infection and try treating it yourself. However, it is abnormal if followed by redness and cramping and you should immediately notify your health expert.

Causes of white discharge

Leucorrhoea as such doesn’t pose any problems but its causes may do. One of the most common causes of white discharge is lack or imbalance of nutritive elements in your body.  This fluid is released from the uterus in the form of waste materials collected from the entire body. Some of the factorial causes include:

  • Infections of bacteria, fungi or parasites
  • Young age pregnancy
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Allergy dermatitis
  • Injuries on the sensitive parts like vagina, womb or cervix
  • Inflammation on the uterus
  • Contraceptives consumed
  • Gout
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Pelvic inflammatory diseases
  • Inflammation below the abdomen
  • Syphilis
  • Sexual frustration

Types of leucorrhoea

The two basic types of leucorrhoea include inflammatory leucorrhoea and physiological leucorrhoea which can be further explained as:

  • Physiological leucorrhoea: This is the most commonly occurred type of leucorrhoea for almost every woman and is released by the vagina as a defence mechanism in an attempt to maintain the pH and bacterial level of the vagina along with preserving the flexibility of the vaginal tissue.  It is addressed as physiological due to an elevation in the oestrogen levels.
  • Inflammatory leucorrhoea: This type occurs when your vagina undergoes swelling or congestion. The discharge released comes with a foul smell and is yellow in colour which indicates an infection.

Symptoms

The most common symptom of leucorrhoea is the white discharge released out of the vagina. Other symptoms might include redness, itching sensations and inflammation on the vaginal area. The undergarments might show the traces of this discharge. Some women might even feel extremely lazy and lethargic all day long.

Homeopathy treatment

White discharge treatment in homeopathy ensures that the homeopaths understand every individual’s internal mechanisms function on a different level, their genome levels differ and so does their ability to react to the external environment. So, altogether, the root causes of the disease along with the symptoms have a different driving force. Therefore, homeopathy ensures to study each and every aspect of the constitution of the disease with its underlying triggers and consequences after which a treatment is drawn. This is a privilege under homeopathy as it provides a treatment which is absolutely individualized and doesn’t have any toxic ill-effects.
