I suffer from Hyperthyroid but Homeopathy Saved My Life…

Thyroid

I am 35years lady, and I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Hyperthyroidism. I had got my thyroid hormones tested and it was found that my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) was low. My other 2 thyroid hormones T3 and T4 were 4 times normal. I was very paranoid about taking conventional treatment and when I told my doctor that I would like to take homoeopathy she was mad at me. But I went to my homoeopathic doctor as I was feeling very hot in freezing winter, I was extremely restless with a lot of anxiety, I had sleepless nights, I was getting highly irritable at the least thing my husband or child would tell me. After a detailed case taking my homoeopathic doctor gave me a suitable homoeopathic medicine. in a week’s time I felt a lot of relief with all my symptoms. I was asked to keep a check on my thyroid hormones and they gradually improved. I am living a better life now and symptom free.

Hyperthyroidism is the over activity of the thyroid gland. It occurs when the thyroid gland produces more thyroid hormones than needed. Thyroid hormones are substances secreted by the thyroid gland; they are responsible for controlling growth, development and energy usage in the body. When these minutely available hormones are secreted in excess of their requirement, the body throws up symptoms such as excess hunger inspite of eating well, weight loss, fatigue, hyperactivity, tremors, brittle nails, hair loss, staring gaze, bulging of one or both the eyes, diarrhoea, quicker heart rate, shortness of breath, reduced concentration, sleeplessness, decreased libido and intolerance to heat. Women may experience reduced menstrual flow or irregular menstrual cycle. Many patients are diagnosed with sub-clinical hyperthyroidism wherein the patient has no apparent symptoms of hyperthyroidism; abnormal levels of thyroid hormones are sometimes detected in routine laboratory tests. Hyperthyroidism can result from multiple causes. These include the autoimmune condition called Grave’s disease, thyroid nodules, inflammation of the thyroid gland or Thyroiditis, over-dosage of thyroid hormones, excess iodine intake or certain drugs. The features of hyperthyroidism are characteristic of condition; however certain laboratory tests help to establish the diagnosis and also determine the cause. These include thyroid hormone levels, thyroid scan and thyroid ultrasound.

Homoeopathy for Hyperthyroidism

Homoeopathic treatment aims at treating a hyperthyroid patient as a person having the ailment and not just the disease in isolation. Homoeopathy suggests that illness often develop owing to lowered resistance, or compromised immune function. Homoeopathic medicines add zest to our immune mechanism. In other words, they gently propel the power of our immune system to scour the illness from its roots.

Homoeopathy helps to produce thyroid hormone naturally by stimulating the immune system and helps in better functioning of the thyroid gland.

Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing capacity by encouraging the body to reactivate hormone secretions.

Stress causes hormonal disturbances in the body like thyroid problems which is very effectively treated with homeopathy.

Homoeopathy is a mind-body medicine. Homoeopathy treats not only the physical complaints, but also targets the mind and gently restores mind-body equilibrium- thus it treats the patient as a whole.

HRT (hormone replacement therapy) have known side-effects like itching, mild muscle or joint pains, swelling or hairloss. Homeopathy is free from any side-effects.

Homeopathic medicines help to avoid stressful surgical procedures.

Self Help

Have regular check-ups and pay attention to your symptoms. Report changes, if any, to your doctor.

Include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, rutabagas, spinach, turnips, peaches and pears. They help to curb thyroid production, naturally.

Caffeinated drinks and dairy products should be avoided.

Supplemental vitamin/ mineral combinations, which can also help ease hyperthyroidism, should be taken under supervision.

Try de-stressing techniques. Go for a walk, try deep breathing, yoga, meditation, put on some soothing music as it slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure and even decreases levels of stress hormones. Switch of the T.V. / Mobile/ laptop 1 hour before you sleep as uninterrupted computer usage has been associated with stress, lost sleep and depression
