Depression, what does it exactly mean; does it have to do something with one's mental health or the lifestyle or the stress one has. Or does it have to do with something else? Depression is often a state of low mood and aversion to day-to-day activities that can affect a person's overall behavior, thoughts, senses, and feelings of one's well-being. A person with depression can generally have a slew of symptoms ranging from anxiety, hopelessness, helplessness, irritability, worthlessness, feeling of guilt, and restlessness, to name a few.

The depression symptoms may also include loss of interests in day-to-day activities that were ones enjoyable or pleasurable, loss of appetite, binging or over-eating, suicidal thoughts, lack of sleep or too much of sleep, elevated stress levels, and a lot more. Being in depression or having a depressive mood is not always a sign of psychiatric disorder, it can also be considered as a reaction to certain life-altering or life-changing events.

To best identify if you are going through the phase, it is necessary to look out for these mentioned signs of depression and consult the doctor to probe further. Now that we are aware of the signs of depression, let's look at what all it can cause to your memory!

You all must have noticed that it is difficult to concentrate on a particular thing when you’re sad or depressed. It becomes difficult to make out difference in between good and bad, and take proper decisions when you’re hassled and puzzled inside!

These are general instances which we all notice some day or the other in our life. While depression has the tendency to put a greater impact on your life, it may also cause memory loss in few cases. In simple terms, it may cause forgetfulness or confusion.

You may find yourself facing similar problems -

  • You may find that you can’t focus on a task if other things are taking place around you, distracting you from your intended job and leaving it incomplete or below expectations.
  • People with depression often feel like they can’t focus when giving or receiving direction, which can result in misunderstandings at home, work, or school.
  • Relationships may suffer if people begin to perceive your distraction as a lack of consideration for what they’re trying to tell you.
  • Comprehending what you are reading may become difficult, resulting in missed information from written instructions or a lack of enjoyment when reading for pleasure.
  • Driving can become dangerous if your train of thought strays and you find you can’t focus on the road.

It is also important to realize that some medications used to treat depression may also have memory impairment as a side effect. Additionally, drug and alcohol abuse can cause or worsen memory recall.

Whereas homeopathy has the potential to offer a fairly cost- effective, effectual and safe alternative treatment plan for depression. The duration of homeopathy depression treatment may vary from case to case and depends on several factors such as duration of the condition, its severity and its impact on the patient. Patients who have not lost touch with reality are likely to respond better than those who suffer from psychotic symptoms like delusions/hallucinations (which indicate loss of touch with reality). In addition, patients who develop a strong will (who do not give up on the treatment) and take adequate steps for the same are likely to show good response to treatment.

The medicines can help to reinstate the deviation from health back to normal and can help the patients to lead a better quality of life in general. In addition, homeopathy can help in avoiding the use of anti-depressants which often tend to be habit-forming as well as lead to side effects like weight gain, high blood pressure, blurring of vision, etc.

Additionally, homeopathy medicines for depression are not habit-forming and without any side effects. Thus treatment can be continued even for long periods without worrying about any untoward events due to medication.
