Wondering whether it is Acute or Chronic bronchitis-Homeopathy treats both
Does an uninterrupted breath of fresh air sound like a distant dream to you? Does holding your breath even for a few seconds, seem difficult? If your answer to these questions is ‘yes’ then you are probably suffering from bronchitis. Did you know that according to WHO, an estimated 65 million people have moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) - a group of lung diseases that include chronic bronchitis? It contributes to 3 million deaths each year making it the third leading cause of fatalities worldwide.
Bronchitis occurs when the tubes (bronchial tubes) that carry air to your lungs, get inflamed and swollen. People who have bronchitis often cough up thickened mucus (often dark in colour).
There are two types of bronchitis; Acute and Chronic.
Acute Bronchitis: This type of bronchitis, also known as a chest cold is fairly common that often develops from viral and other respiratory infections. It usually improves within a week to 10 days without lasting effects, although symptoms such as cough may last for weeks.
Chronic Bronchitis: This is a more serious type of bronchitis, where people experience constant irritation or inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes, often due to smoking. The symptoms appear frequently and last for a relatively longer period of time. Chronic bronchitis is one of the conditions included in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Symptoms of bronchitis (both acute and chronic):
- Production of mucus (Colour may vary from clear, white, yellowish-gray or green, sometimes even contain blood)
- Shortness of breath
- Slight fever
- Chest discomfort
In cases of acute bronchitis, symptoms such as a mild headache or body aches can also be seen. Chronic bronchitis results in a productive cough that lasts at least three months, with recurring bouts.
Causes of bronchitis:
Acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses while one of the common causes of chronic bronchitis is cigarette smoking. Air pollution, dust allergies or toxic gases in the environment or workplace can also contribute in worsening the condition.

Homeopathic treatment of Bronchitis:
In both acute and chronic bronchitis different areas of the respiratory tract are attacked demanding significantly different medical approaches towards handling both.
Homeopathy is effective in providing aid to quit smoking and helps prevent complications such as pneumonia, respiratory failure, right-sided heart failure (cor pulmonale), emphysema, etc. Unlike conventional bronchitis treatment, homeopathic medicines have no side-effects and follow a curative rather than a suppressive approach.
According to The National Center for Biotechnology Information, a study was conducted to prove if homeopathic medicine has a preventive effect on respiratory tract infections (RTI). They examined 459 patients, out of whom 248 were treated with homeopathic medicine and 211 were not treated using homeopathy. It showed a significantly greater reduction in the number of RTI episodes compared to patients not treated with homeopathy.
At Dr Batra’s, we have successfully treated over 1 million patients with homeopathy with a 91% success rate as per American Quality Assessors. For the best treatment outcomes, it is imperative to seek the guidance of a professional homeopathic doctor at our homeopathic clinic.
