Stomach infection is known as viral gastroenteritis. It is very contagious. The main symptoms are severe abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting.

It is also known as stomach flu. It is caused by a variety of viruses and often develops after coming in contact with an infected person or on consumption of contaminated food or water. It is very uncommon that stomach flu could be caused because of bacteria. People who suffer from this infection recover within a few days without any further complications.

Symptoms of viral gastroenteritis

Stomach flu attacks the stomach and intestines. Symptoms of stomach flu include:

Watery diarrhoea, severe stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.

When there is so much water loss from the body due to watery diarrhoea and vomiting it may lead to muscle aches and weakness. It can be accompanied with headache and mild fever.

In most cases symptoms appear within 1 – 2 days of being infected and can range from being mild to severe.

It is generally seen that people react to stomach infection within 24 hours being exposed to the virus. In the most severe cases it can last upto 10days. Going to school or work should be avoided as it may infect another healthy person.

Treatment for Viral Gastroenteritis

In conventional mode of treatment they give antiviral and at times due to severe dehydration it may need the person to get admitted in the hospital and give them intravenous medicine with i.v. fluids.

Homeopathy has very good scope in treating stomach infection. It helps to restore the intestinal lining back to normal and would prevent the recurrence of the infection by helping to build the immunity of the person.

Homeopathy helps to reduce intensity and frequency of the complaints and that too very gently.
Homeopathic medicine reduces the need of chemical drugs.

The most important is to being well hydrated by drinking plenty fluids, taking adequate rest and give your stomach rest by avoiding full meals.
