Exams were just round the corner. A million dollar question comes into a worried mother’s mind, “Do I send my child to school and tuition classes or keep on visiting the doctors. Do I allow him to write his exams or put him under a surgeon’s knife?” Tears rolled down her eyes when she said to the doctor, “Can I just expect my child to eat his food without that excruciating pain in his throat?” The child suffered from recurrent throat infections. Yes, you guessed it right! He had tonsillitis & was advised a surgery. All preoperative investigations were done because the father did not want to take a chance and was convinced for the surgery.  However, the mother’s heart pulled the decision back and she got her son to check if homeopathy would help him.

In such situations does the child have an alternate course of treatment for tonsillitis?

Various clinical studies in Homeopathy have shown its effectiveness in not only treating tonsillitis symptoms but also being successful to avoid surgery in most cases. Homeopathy is extremely effective is treating tonsillitis, that too without any side-effects. It works by reducing the frequency and intensity of recurrent attacks of tonsillitis. It builds up the natural immunity power, thereby aiding your own body to fight against the infections. Children love to take homeopathic pills because they are sweet and easily palatable. Results are sure shot & long lasting.

Understanding tonsillitis better

Lets us understand what is tonsillitis? Tonsillitis is said to be the inflammation (redness & swelling) of the tonsils. Tonsils are masses of soft tissue that are situated at the back of our throat, one on each side. Tonsillitis can occur at any age. However, it is more likely to occur in preschool/school going children and teenagers and this can affect their studies and quality of life. Tonsils symptoms include pain in the throat, sore throat, fever, bad odor breath, difficulty in swallowing .The neck lymph nodes usually get swollen and can be palpated by the fingers. Headache may be associated in some cases. Smaller children refuse to eat because they cannot explain the difficulty or pain during swallowing. In extreme cases, difficulty in breathing, drooling or stiffness of the neck may occur. It is advisable to immediately rush to a doctor in such cases.

Diagnosis & treatment of tonsillitis

Tonsillitis can be diagnosed by physical examination by a doctor. In some cases, a throat swab may be advised to know the type of infection.

Till date the conventional treatments have been putting the child through a course of antibiotics, analgesics and anti inflammatory. And when they fail, removal of the enlarged tonsils by surgery is usually recommended. However, studies indicate that surgery may not always be the solution. On the contrary the risk factor of recurrent infections increases threefold post surgery.

Homeopathy is not only the alternative but the first system of medicine for Tonsillitis in children since the results are positive and long lasting. It eliminates the need of surgery in most cases and builds up the body’s natural immunity thus protecting and preventing the child's body from recurrent infections be it bacterial viral or allergic.

So let's sing a different song for the treatment of Tonsillitis in children.
