HOMEOPATHY TREATS THE CAUSE & EFFECT OF HAIR LOSS

Hair loss is not just a cosmetic disorder. It affects a woman’s emotions and self-esteem — much more, perhaps, than it does for men.

Hair loss is also a frightful experience. Women, as a rule, just can’t think of hair loss even in their dreams, because the mere thought of it could trigger intense psychological responses.

There are as many causes of hair loss as there are types. The causes can be genetic, dietetic shortfall, hormonal imbalance and emotional stress. Hair loss can also be triggered by dandruff, certain cosmetics, and skin disorders, such as psoriasis, allergic dermatitis, or eczema, of the scalp.

Hair loss often presents with a generalised thinning of hair over the crown, or top, and front of the head. It is said to affect nearly one-third of women. What is characteristic of hair loss is a reduction in the size of the hair follicles on the scalp.

Healthy hair has so much to do with your scalp as diet and also what is on your mind. A relaxed mind nourishes hair; a stressed mind, likewise, leads to hair loss. So also nutrition. The most familiar dilemma, in women, is ‘diffuse hair loss’ — the apparent cause being anaemia, or low iron in blood.

WHAT RESEARCH SAYS

It is reported that nearly 60 per cent of Indian women suffer from hair loss due to a low intake of dietary iron. Other causes include a desire to maintain ‘size-zero’ appearance, or lose weight quickly, aside from polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS]. PCOS presents with excessive hair growth in ‘non-hairy’ areas — on hands and chin — with loss of hair on the scalp. This is a hormonal condition; it is imperative to treat PCOS, fittingly.

Inadequate protein in your diet or poor nourishment, fad or crash diets, junk-food, and certain illnesses, besides eating disorders, may also lead to hair loss. Certain medications —for example, steroids, birth control pills and body-building supplements — too can trigger hair loss.

Common investigations should ideally include blood sugar tests for diabetes, thyroid hormone function test for hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, haemoglobin and serum ferritin tests for iron-deficiency anaemia, and abdominal ultrasound for polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS] — a classical trigger for hair loss in women.

A gradual thinning of hair is a normal part of aging. However, when hair loss leads to bald patches, or the rate of shedding exceeds the rate of re-growth, it is a cause for concern — because, it may sooner than later lead to a state where new hair is thinner than the hair shed, or lost in patches.

HOMEOPATHY: THE SAFE, EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR HAIR LOSS

If your hair is breaking and undesirably dry, or if your scalp density has reduced, or if you have visible hair fall and dandruff, along with ungainly eruptions on the scalp, it is imperative to consult a professional homeopath trained in trichology. Trichology is the scientific study of hair.

Homeopathy evidences that each of us is unique. Hence, we present with characteristic patterns of a given health issue or illness, such as hair loss, that we may be affected with, or suffer from. We all have our own distinguishing ‘autograph’ in health and illness too.

We need to attend to hair loss quickly [in other words, without delay] and consult a professional homeopathic doctor who will prescribe the most suitable homeopathic medicine for hair loss — to reverse the trend, without side-effects.
