Dr Batras eye big expansion in Bengal

Kolkata: Global homeopathy clinics and FMCG chain Dr. Bata's is planning to expand its business in West Bengal. Speaking to TOI, ‘Sandeep Saxena, CEO of Dr Batra's group of companies, said. "West Bengal currently has 10 homeopathy clinics and aesthetic centres including seven in Kolkata. We plan to expand the numbers to 15 and four respectively by 2018." Globally; it plans to expand from 225 stores to 450 by 2020 with an investment of Rs 25crore in the next three years.

However Saxena dismissed all speculations on raising PE finds. He said, "We have no plans to raise fluids from external sources in the near future." Dr Batra's is aiming at a global turnover target of Rs 300 up by 11.59) the last fiscal.

Identifying Kolkata as an 'evolved market' for homeopathy; he said. As per an IMRB survey of April 2016. about 59% of the pan India respondents shifted to homeopathic treatments. Of this, 74% were from Kolkata. The company has also started a pilot project on weight management called B-Trim in select cities. "In India the total homeopathic market amounts to Rs 2758 crore of which the organised sector commands only 10%. Dr Batra's has 52% market share in the same The homeopathy market is expected   to grow to 5000 crore soon. The company has tied up with several pharmacies and retail chains like Apollo, Wellness Clinic, Spar, Vishal Megamart, Spencers for its FMCG sales. It plans to reach out to one lakh stores from the current 9000 by 2019.
