50% of Goans are unaware that hairloss a medical problem Dr Batras Survey

PANJIM: In a survey undertaken in Goa by Dr Batra's Healthcare, on perceptions and causes of hair fall has revealed that more than 52% of individuals do not believe that hair loss could be associated with serious medical problems and opt for cosmetic products, home remedies or salon treatments as solutions instead of seeking a medical intervention. Whopping 94% women and 81% men believe that oiling hair makes it grow faster, while 64% women and nearly 50% men believe that home remedies like egg mask, yogurt mask, henna, etc make hair healthy. The survey findings clearly demonstrate the lack of awareness that hair loss is a medical problem.
 Dr Akshay Batra, MD and vice chairman, Dr Batra's Group of Companies, said "Hair fall could be symptomatic of serious ailments such as thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances, ovarian cysts, anaemia, diabetes or even heart diseases!'
