Reaching out to the world

‘Magic’ photo exhibit wows crowd

To help people by alleviating their suffering, especially those who can not help themselves, is a good way to make them happy, and the CSR initiated by Dr Mukesh Batra through his photography to support blind children in Mumbai is an extraordinary example of this.

This was stated by Tisca Chopra, renowned Bollywood actress, after debuting Magic Moments, the international photographic exhibition of Dr Mukesh Batra at Atrium Hall in Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) on Tuesday.

Dr Mukesh Batra, Padma Shri (a high civilian award of India), is an acclaimed international homeopath, founder and chairman of Dr Batra’s Positive Health Clinic who has been practicing medicine for the last 40 years. A second clinic in Jumeirah is due to open soon, as the first one is running successfully in Dubai Healthcare City.

The Magic Moments exhibit showcases a number of pictures taken by Dr Batra during his recent trip to Greece featuring two of the most popular Greek islands, Mykonos and Santorini.

Enunciating his father’s exhibition while talking to The Gulf Today, Dr Akshay Batra said, “I am really proud of my father’s journey as a doctor, as a father, an individual and an artist. He has balanced his life and work just as how homeopathy combines art and science,” he added.

He said that this is his first exhibition in Dubai, adding to the nine previous exhibitions held in different cities in India which showcased his father’s photographs taken in different places around the world.

“We had exhibitions in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai and all the proceeds through these photographs had donated to different charity organisations in India. This exhibition in Dubai will support Happy Home and School for the Blind in Mumbai, which has been taking support from Dr Batra’s clinics for the last 35 years.

“As the first international exhibition of my father, who was keen to join us but due to a viral infection was unable to make it, we are sure that a huge number of our patrons will extend their support as this exhibition is also one of the CSR activities due to raise funds for blind children for a school in Mumbai,” he added.

Dr Batra’s clinics in over 40 cities in India support local non-governmental organisations, besides conducting free clinic checkups for one day to benefit the masses.

Citing Dr Mukesh Batra’s experience, his son said that, “Although my first passion is medicine, I feel complete with my second love, photography. When I first took up photography, it was just something I used as a kind of relief from a rigorous and often pain-filled profession. But focusing on the miracles of nature rather than the frailties of the human body has helped me to become a more positive human being and a better doctor. My biggest inspiration is my cause, and it allows me to give back to the society in my own little way through the proceeds of the sale of my pictures,” he added.
