Don’t you just hate it when a pimple appears on your nose the same day you have to attend a big party? What about body acne? While most of us get worried when we see a few blackheads on our cheeks or forehead, we often don’t notice an acne breakout on the body. Body acne can get equally uncomfortable and leave unsightly scars. Here are some important tips to help you prevent body acne.

  1. Avoid tight accessories

Tight belts, bag straps, and ill-fitting jackets are some accessories that cause shoulder and back acne. In summers, you sweat more and the problem worsens. Avoid wearing belts and opt for pants with an elastic. Make sure your bag is not too heavy for that causes a friction between the strap and your body. If you play sports, make sure you remove any accessories such as knee or elbow guards as often as you can.

  1. Wear loose clothing

Opt for natural fibres depending on the season and never buy tightly fit clothes. Skinny jeans may look good but they can increase the risk of body acne and vein problems. Likewise avoid synthetic fibres. Comfortable cotton clothing goes well with summers. Loose clothing helps your pores breathe and release sweat instantly.

  1. Beware of risky home remedies

The internet is full of home remedies for almost any given skin condition. However, you must proceed with caution. Some remedies are suited for certain skin types but not others. For instance, lemon and sugar scrub is a popular remedy for body acne. However, the acidic nature of lemon combined with rough sugar granules can cause scratches on your delicate skin. Always do a little more research and do a small test patch to make sure you don’t develop any reactions.

  1. Shower before bed time

As the day progresses, germs, and bacteria in the environment latch onto your skin. At night, these germs can clog your pores and cause an acne outbreak. Moreover, the germs from your sweat get stuck to your bed linen. Showering before bed is one of the best ways to prevent body acne. Use an anti-bacterial soap or body wash.

  1. Change your body wash

If you start a noticing a few pimples on your back and arms, it might be time to swap that soap for an anti-bacterial body wash. If you use a body scrub, minimize it to once a week. Over-exfoliating can cause the pimples to burst and lead scarring and more acne. Throw out your plastic loofah in favour of one made of natural fibre such as jute.

  1. Clean your bed linen

Your bedsheets and pillow covers are a great breeding place for all kinds of germs. Studies show that almost half cases of the flu and viral infections begin with unclean bed linen. The dirt from your sheets can clog your skin pores and lead to an acne outbreak. Make sure you change your sheets at least once a week. Sun-dry your bed linen and mattress whenever possible.

  1. Tie up your hair

If you gym or go jogging, make sure you tie your hair up to prevent sweat and grime getting trapped on your neck and back. If you use a headband, slide it up onto your hair. Don’t let it rest on your forehead or neck for this can trap sweat and cause pimples or even heat rash. Moreover, tying up your hair is the best way to keep it clean and prevent tangles during a workout.

  1. Eat healthy

Make sure you eat lot of natural and home-cooked foods. Stay away from a high sugar diet. This includes avoiding refined flour, breakfast cereal, pastries, and cakes. Sugar causes a blood sugar spike and upsets your hormones which eventually leads to the formation of acne. Drink lots of water to replace the liquid you lose in sweat. Skip the aerated sodas, packaged juice, and energy drinks.

Homeopathic medicine for acne

If you tried and tested almost every method and body acne still troubles you, it might be time to seek professional help. Homeopathic medicine for acne is safe and free from side effects. Moreover, the treatments are completely painless and free from harsh chemicals. Due to its gentle approach, homeopathy is especially preferred by parents for their school-going or adolescent children. Homeopathic medicine for acne doesn’t simply focus on instant results, rather it aims at lifelong cure.
