Patient distressed due to patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) seeks Homeopathy treatment
Hair loss in patches (alopecia areata) had distressed 30-year-old Ramesh (name changed) for 7 years and he never got complete respite from this. He had lost almost all his hair within a span of 5 months initially - however there was spontaneous re-growth of the hair to some extent later. Since the last 2 years, he had again started to develop new alopecia patches on the scalp. Troubled by dandruff and itching in addition to alopecia areata, he sought Ayurvedic treatment which didn't help him much. He had also taken steroidal injections in the past for the alopecia but to no avail. Finally, he decided to opt for Homeopathy treatment at Dr. Batra's.
Along with alopecia areata, Ramesh also had bronchial asthma which had troubled him since childhood. Since last few years, the frequency of asthma attacks had come down. Yet, he had to take steroidal inhaler every alternate day. On the family front, his mother and brother suffered from asthma and besides this, there was no history of any other major illness in the family.
In general, Ramesh’s appetite was normal and he had a great liking for spicy food and was averse to sour things. His perspiration would be profuse and offensive. His sleep was sound and bowel movements were normal.
Ramesh was working as a software engineer in a private firm and was staying in a joint family. He was short tempered - would get angry soon and retaliate immediately. He did not share a very pleasant relation with his wife and there were many problems on this front. He had a tendency to brood over past incidents and would cry on remembering them. Being an ambitious person, he wanted to grow fast in life and hence, he shifted to marketing line but was faced with still more stress here. Thus, there was a lot of stress at a personal as well as professional level.
On the basis of these details, he was prescribed his constitutional medicine by the consultant at Dr. Batra's. Within two months of treatment, his alopecia areata started improving very well and was almost 50% better. By the end of four months of homeopathic treatment, the re-growth of hair on the alopecia areata patches was almost complete. His hair loss had also reduced to about 30 strands per day which was well within normal limits. Dandruff and itching on scalp became considerably less after treatment.
Being a holistic medicine, Homoeopathy also brought down his attacks of bronchial asthma. He would now require inhalers only once in couple of months unlike every alternate day like before.
